Judged by the Guild of Fine Food’s expert panel, both RishRight’s Yo Po Chilli and Fresh Qin-Chilli Sauce have been awarded Great Taste 1-star accolades in the world’s most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme.

Great Taste Awards: A Mark of Excellence

Often referred to as the “Oscars” of the food world, the Great Taste Awards are the world’s largest and most respected food and drink accreditation scheme, organised by the Guild of Fine Food. Since its inception in 1994, the Great Taste Awards have become a benchmark for excellence in the food industry, recognised by consumers and retailers alike. This year, the competition saw 13,672 entries from 115 countries, judged rigorously over 92 days by a panel of more than 500 experts. Only 40.8% of the entries received awards, highlighting the selectiveness and prestige of this accolade.

Judges’ Feedback on Our Chilli Condiments

Yo Po Chilli:

The judges enjoyed the warming smokiness of Yo Po Chilli along with the whole chunks of peanut. They noted an impressive subtlety despite the well-judged heat, with sweet notes also coming through. This chilli condiment has a lovely crunchy texture and would provide much lively interest to many dishes. Well-presented, this condiment has an attractive red colour with the peanuts and sesame seeds visible in the mix and a pungent aromatic smell. The taste is moderately spicy, with predominant flavours of peanut and sesame. It would greatly enhance a wide array of dishes, not just Chinese cuisine.

Fresh Qin-Chilli Sauce:

The judges praised the Fresh Qin-Chilli Sauce for “its visually appealing chunks of chilli in rich oil. On the nose, it offers heaps of roasted chilli sweetness, fruitiness, and warmth, which carry through impressively on the palate.” They loved the balance of heat with the rich aromatic notes of the chilli and found its umami compelling, with delicious length and vivacity. The oil in the sauce is not cloying, adding to its appeal. The product has “a homely, chunky look and bright vibrant colour, with plenty of aromatic, spiced aroma.” The flavour is “meaty, umami, smoky, sweet, spicy, and salty, making it a versatile addition to any kitchen”. The good heat and underlying savour, along with the honest texture, make this a standout condiment.
